Can. Ch. Bryar's Texas (AKC W-752809, CKC 470588) was born 8 October 1956, bred by Jean M. Lane. He was owned for many years by the Snow Ridge Kennels of Mrs. W. J. F. Dunlop (neé Susan Elizabeth "Bunty" Ricker). Finally he was sold to Harold Oakes, Wobiska Kennels, of Perth, Ontario, where he sired several litters of stock largely of his own striking appearance. Texas was black and white with a bald face, blue eyes, white chest and forelegs and a large white shawl. He is found today in pedigrees largely through the Nekanesu breeding of the Rev. Don McEwen (also of eastern Ontario) and through some Kodiak (Debra Ryan Fogarty) lines from western Québec. Texas, obviously, was not a pure-strain Seppala dog, though he had plenty of Seppala background in his pedigree and his sire, Keith Bryar's "Beaver," was pure strain. His dam Tamara was from the New England breeding of "Tat" Duval, sired by the popular "Izok" out of an "old Monadnock" bitch.
