FOXSTAND'S SHAMUS was Bill Shearer's second great leader, born 11 June 1947 seven years after the Shearer foundation litter that contained FOXSTAND'S SHANGO and his sister, Shamus' dam, FOXSTAND'S SUKEY. Shamus was an unusual-looking dog -- piebald, mostly white, with a very long coat. He was an excellent leader, carrying the Shearer team to victory in a variety of trail conditions. Shamus' ancestry was three-quarters from Harry Wheeler stock and the remainder, other Poland Spring breeding through the Belford bitch SIGRID 3rd OF FOXSTAND.
