Pedigree of: Warlock's Hector of Kadatuk
(PURE SEPPALA dogs in this pedigree are indicated by purple-coloured type and capital letters.)
"HECTOR's" pedigree is a classic -- quintessential "New England"! I acquired this dog around 1970 from an Ottawa musher. He was 25 inches tall, thin and rangy, tricoloured, and bursting with uncontrolled energy; born the 9th December 1968. I was at that time greatly puzzled by his pedigree of over half show lines, much of it from the Marlytuk line of Marguerite Grant! It was my first encounter with the New England genome. This eclectic mix can produce almost anything, including crazy sprint-racing dogs like Hector. The breeding of the little-known Roger Welcome dominates the pedigree's bottom line and finds an echo in Peggy Grant's bitch ROLA, SPIDER's sister. COLUMBIA'S ADMIRAL makes a cameo appearance, along with the obligatory IZOK OF GAP MOUNTAIN; all through the background of the pedigree are the Millie Turner dogs DUCHESS OF COLD RIVER, CH. HELEN OF COLD RIVER, TONGASS OF COLD RIVER and BUGS, with VALUIKI OF COLD RIVER coming in in more remote generations through Monadnock breeding. Although the breeder of record was Hector H. Renaud, Foxboro, MA, if anyone asked me who bred "HECTOR" I would have to say, "Roger Welcome, Steve Tassey, Peggy Grant, Roland Lombard, Bill Shearer, and Millie Turner!"
