Pedigree of: Wobiska's Chippy of Roka

"CHIPPY's" pedigree shows no breeding plan beyond the desire to obtain more dogs like the sire by breeding his daughter back to him (an unhappily common expedient in the Siberian Husky world). Beyond that point it is a haphazard mixture of Seppala and New England bloodlines. Ch. Bryar's Texas was bred by Jean Lane (later Bryar), mating Keith Bryar's Seppala lead dog BOYARKA OF SEPPALA to TAMARA, a bitch out of Bill Belletete and "Tat" Duval breeding of New England show and dual-purposes lines. The maternal grandam Tisha's Sitka is hazard-bred, out of a show-dog bitch by a Doris Cassady racing male from a cross of Anadyr and Seppala stock. I knew Chippy and her sisters when I lived in eastern Ontario; they bore very little resemblance to McFaul stock. By counting every Seppala lineage dog in this five-generation pedigree one could at most credit Chippy with half-Seppala ancestry -- but not with descent from a sustained Seppala breeding programme.
